SUMMARY:Reception and Artist Talk with Bridge Projects
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us at San Pedro Creek Culture Park on Saturday, March 4, to celebrate Creek Lines with Bridge Projects Artists Stuart Allen and Cade Bradshaw!\nFrom 1:00 – 3:00PM, visitors of all ages can spark their curiosity as they investigate the creek’s 300-year-old history by exploring the artwork. Remarks and artist talk begin at 1:30PM. \nThis event is free and open to the public with free parking at Christopher Columbus Italian Society Parking Lot (679 Columbus St). \nArt at San Pedro Creek\nThe San Pedro Creek Culture Park, a multi-phased joint project among Bexar County, the San Antonio River Authority and the City of San Antonio, invites the people of San Antonio to reconnect with a place of great historical and cultural significance. Public art, cultural programming, and artistic design features presented in the park express what is authentic about San Antonio’s culture today and explore the historical significance of the creek through a contemporary art lens.\nAbout Creek Lines\nCreek Lines is a stainless steel sculpture located at the San Pedro Creek Culture Park’s Plaza de Fundación. 30 stainless pipes, bent in the shape of San Pedro Creek’s course, undulate upward to meet a reflective canopy. The canopy is an abstraction of the San Pedro Creek Watershed, which funnels water to the sculpture’s creek shaped void during rain events.\nAt the center of San Antonio’s history, San Pedro Creek has literally shaped the city. It has guided the movement of its inhabitants for over 300 years, forming a complex weave of migratory, urban, and ecological pathways. Creek Lines encourages visitors to the San Pedro Creek Culture Park to consider the importance of this line, and its relationship to San Antonio’s rich cultural legacy.\nFor more information, please visit Creek Lines online at www.spcculturepark.com ( http://www.spcculturepark.com ).\nAbout Bridge Projects\nBridge Projects is a collaboration between artists Stuart Allen and Cade Bradshaw. Focused on work that activates our senses and inspires awe, the pair have completed public art installations in playgrounds, along trails, in corporate lobbies, government buildings, underneath bridges, on the beach, in parks, and once, in a leaky, dark, derelict industrial shell of a former newspaper press room. The partners provide services in design, management, fabrication, and documentation.\nStuart Allen is a visual artist whose work deals with fundamental elements of perception such as light, time, gravity and space. His photographs, sculpture and installation have been exhibited and collected widely throughout the US and abroad.\nCade Bradshaw’s work amplifies awareness of the the viewer’s surroundings, the act of sensing, and the formation of perceptions. He is interested in the foundational elements of biological life, ecology and evolution, and the molecular origins of everyday objects. His work frequently returns to natural materials.\nArtist website: www.bridgesatx.com ( http://www.bridgesatx.com )\n\n
