Hybrid Invasive Apple Snail Removal Training (virtual & in-person)

(virtual from 12:00 pm -1:00 pm & in-person from 12:00 pm -1:30 pm)

Apple snails are invasive species of snails from South America that are now seen in the San Antonio River. They are voracious eaters of native vegetation and threaten the health of the native species in our river. River Warriors and other community volunteers are invited to attend this training virtually or in-person to be certified to help remove these snails and their egg cases from the river on land or from kayaks on the water.

Email volunteer@sariverauthority.org for the virtual link. Waivers, a reporting tool (very important) and safety instructions will be provided in this brief hybrid training.

The River Warrior group of volunteers have removed more than 20 % of the total number of snails and egg-cases removed from the river from the first time they were observed in 2019.

Your Generosity Has Changed Your World

Since 2003, our Foundation has privately raised and reinvested over $43 million dollars in enhancing your San Antonio River experience. Our project partners —the San Antonio River Authority, Bexar County, the City of San Antonio, and the US Army Corps of Engineers — have invested over $789 million in river improvements for our community. Together, our investments have added over $3.6 billion in economic impact through adjacent private investment and development.
