Your Generosity Has Changed Your World

Since 2003, our Foundation has raised over $38 million dollars from individuals and organizations in our community. That money was reinvested to enhance your San Antonio River experience. Our project partners —San Antonio River Authority, Bexar CountyCity of San Antonio, and US Army Corps of Engineers— have invested over $384 million in river improvements for our community. Together, our investments have added over $1.5 billion in economic impact through adjacent private investment and development.

Thank You for Your Continued Support

    Donald Lipsky

    I-35 Overpass near Camden Street

It’s hard not to smile at Philadelphia artist Donald Lipski’s school of giant fish swimming through the sky beneath the interstate overpass. The cluster of 25 seven-foot-long creatures of hand-painted fiberglass resin are anatomically correct models of long-eared sunfish, native to the river. Impressive by day and stunningly lit from within at night, the glowing fish are a beacon from blocks away, adding color and levity to a once neglected downtown area. A 26th fish is on display in The DoSeum, San Antonio's Museum for Kids, offering an up-close view of the installation’s vibrant detailing.

    COMMISSIONED PUBLIC ART
The San Antonio River Foundation commissioned and funded public artworks for the benefit of our community and in support of our partners in the $384M San Antonio River Improvements Project. All works along the Mission Reach have been donated to the City of San Antonio's public art collection in perpetuity.

Wild & Scenic Film Festival- Bexar County Screening

The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) will host the agency’s 6th Annual Environmental Film Fest to help commemorate National Rivers Month in June. The festival will take place in two locations along the San Antonio River:

    • (Bexar County) June 18 at Santikos Palladium from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    • (Southern Basin) June 27th at Goliad Senior Citizen Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This is a free event; however, seating is limited on a first come, first serve basis.

The River Authority is partnering once again with the South Yuba River Citizens League Annual Wild & Scenic® Film Festival to feature national and international short films about topics such as nature, adventure, wildlife, environmental justice, and conservation. The festival will also feature the screening of River Authority’s 4th Annual Watershed Wise Awards video ceremony. The video awards ceremony will recognize individuals and organizations from Bexar, Wilson, Karnes, and Goliad counties who have helped raise awareness of watershed issues relevant to SARA’s vision and mission of “inspiring actions for healthy creeks and rivers” and to “protect and enhance our creeks and rivers through service, leadership and expertise” during 2018-2019.  A list of the winners can be found on the Watershed Wise section of SARA’s website.

In addition to the film screenings, the public will get a chance to visit informational tables from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to learn about SARA, the Wild & Scenic Film Festival sponsors and the San Antonio River Foundation. Attendees will also receive free popcorn and drinks while supplies last and can also enter a raffle to win prizes from the national sponsors of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival.
